Gates can provide both security and a stunning new feature to your home, it is important that you fit your new timber gate properly in order to ensure its durability.
Tools Required:
- Spirit Level
- Power Drill
- Tape Measure

Step 1
When measuring your gate, you must remember to add the two post sizes to the gate size and an extra 20mm to the overall product to ensure that the gate is able to be opened and closed.
Before you install your gate into the ground you must ensure that each hole size is 600mm deep and 300mm wide.
Step 2
When measuring your gate, you must remember to add the two post sizes to the gate size and an extra 20mm to the overall product to ensure that the gate is able to be opened and closed.

Step 3
Now you should place a wedge on both sides of the new gate to even out the gaps, this will also hold the gate in place when you fit the hinges.
Once you have fitted the hinges you must remember to make sure that your new gate opens and closes as you would expect it to. Remove the wedges and make sure that the gate swings freely.
Step 4
Next you will need to fit the latch to the gate in a position that the gate can support the screws. Once the latch is fitted you can fit a gate stop to the frame to protect the hinges and latch from any damage.
